The Super Eighties is a Net Entertainment Video Slot, that transports you back to an era of club music, flares, and awful hairstyles – a time that many of us would rather forget.
However, while the 80’s is often laughed at today, there’s no denying there were some great parts – and love it or hate it, the club scene and advancements in technology were pivotal in driving a new-era, which emerged in the 1990’s.
Net Entertainment made the decision to base one of their new games – The Super Eighties – solely around the 1980’s, and while it’s a little less-club and music orientated than 80’s games from other providers, there is a strong sense of the clubbing scene in the slot, with neon-style symbols, and bright, purple reels making up the majority of the screen.
The game uses 5 reels and 40 pay lines, with the minimum stake set at just £0.01. That’s thanks to the paylines not being fixed, so you can choose to play as many – or as few – as you want. While it’s generally always advised to play the maximum number of pay lines on offer, it’s good to have the choice, and is particularly useful to players trying to get rid of a last few pence of a deposit bonus.
Symbol-wise, you’ll find playing card symbols, 10 through Ace, and the game specific symbols includes a retro mobile phone, a games console, pink stilettos, and an early Walkman. What’s quite cool about the way Net Entertainment have presented the games symbols, is that rather than just including the low-paying playing card symbols out of ‘habit’, they’ve actually gone and done some work to make them fit into the game, and you’ll see the actual number is formed of neon lights. The “A”, for example, uses a classic 80’s dual-neon-light, and looks pretty cool on the reels.
The Super Eighties is also available to play on mobile phones and tablets, thanks to the mobile-optimization Net Entertainment have included in the games development.
Stacked Wilds
On each reel, you’ll see a wild symbol, which is called the “80’s Wild”. This is a stacked symbol, which means entire reels can land a full set of wild symbols, and while it’s rare to land more than 3 wild reels, do so, and you’re in for a monster win.
Free Spins
Just like any good old Net Entertainment slot, the main attraction of The Super Eighties is the free-spins bonus, and this is triggered by landing three of the scatter symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4 – the three middle reels. The scatter symbol is depicted by a young, blonde-haired female, with pink and yellow stripes through her hair (thank God for the 90’s, right?).
Once you manage to land the free-spins, you’ll be given 5 spins initially. During the free-spins, all winnings will be multiplied by 2X, and while 5 free-spins seems fairly stingy, especially from Net Entertainment, it’s important to note that a re-trigger will result in an additional 5 spins being awarded.
